The Liberating Power of Truth: A Father's Plea
Speaking Truth to Freedom: A Parent's Urgent Call
Violence can only be concealed by a lie, and the lie can only be maintained by violence.
The Truth Will Set You Free
Before you delve into the contents of the following letter, I want to preface it with a gentle reminder. We have spoken about the importance of truth many times before, yet I find myself compelled to revisit this theme.
The reason for this repetition is not a lack of new topics or ideas, but rather the profound significance that truth holds in our lives. It is a foundational principle that bears reiteration, much like revisiting a favorite book to uncover deeper meanings with each reading.
Each discussion about truth reveals new layers and importance, reinforcing why living genuinely should remain at the core of our values. Thus, I urge you to approach this letter not just as another message but as an essential reaffirmation of a principle vital to the very essence of freedom and authenticity in our lives.
Now let’s begin.
Today, I write to you with a heart full of urgency and passion, imploring you to embrace a life lived in truth. This call to truth is not merely a suggestion—it is a plea for you to unlock the profound freedom and liberation that comes from being genuine and honest in every aspect of your existence.
The essence of freedom—of being free—is deeply rooted in our very language and psyche. The word "freedom" springs from the Old English frēodōm, a blend of frēo, meaning "free," and -dōm, denoting a state or condition.
This lineage ties back even further to the Indo-European *pri-, to love or be fond of. Consider then, that to be free is not only to be unshackled, but to be cherished, loved, and revered. It is a condition as essential as air, as nourishing as water.
Living in truth—speaking and acting truthfully—is inherently freeing. It is a form of liberation, a release from the burdens of deceit and the heavy chains of duplicity.
When you choose honesty, you embrace autonomy, empowering yourself to act according to your values and beliefs without the weight of pretense or facade.
Think of the profound impact of truth in history. Movements for emancipation and manumission have overturned oppressive regimes and freed societies from the grips of tyranny.
Just as these grand scales of truth reshape nations, so too does honesty transform individual lives. To live truthfully is to experience a release, a profound deliverance from the confines of falsehood.
But why is this liberation so crucial, so urgent? Because, my children, the act of being untruthful, of withholding your true thoughts and feelings, or of living a life that does not reflect your true self, is akin to placing yourself in a cage.
You may not see the bars, but you will surely feel them. Each small dishonesty might seem inconsequential, but together they form shackles that can restrain and confine your spirit.
To speak truth is to embrace autonomy—the independence that comes from making decisions that align with your deepest, truest self. Unshackle yourself from societal expectations and personal fears.
Truth begets disenthrallment, the breaking away from what binds you without just cause. Imagine the profound relief and boundless joy that come from such emancipation. This is the essence of being truly free.
Moreover, consider the synonyms of freedom—liberation, emancipation, release. Each word echoes a powerful break from bondage. Autonomy underscores independence not just in action but in thought and spirit.
These words don’t merely describe a state of being; they invoke a dynamic process of becoming, an ongoing journey of self-discovery and honesty that you must actively pursue.
Living in truth allows you to face the world with integrity and courage. It helps you build relationships on solid, unshakeable foundations. Truth is the light that guides you through darkness and the shield that protects you in adversity.
When you are true to yourself and others, you craft a life that is not only free from lies but also rich with sincerity and authenticity.
So, I urge you, my children, to choose the path of truth. Embrace it passionately and wholeheartedly. The freedom it brings is the cessation of lies, the beginning of everything that life should be—open, fair, and infinitely wide with possibility. Choose to be free in the truest sense.
Love your truth, for it is precious. Let it guide you, let it define you, and let it free you.

Hey dude, you’ve really been on your game this week. This piece hits home for me. These are lessons that I learned extensively over the last 8 years or so. We all have this knowledge encoded in us and we all spend most of our lives running from it. Once you see the way broadly you see it in all things. Surrender. Surrender to the Truth, and surrender all false pretenses. I’m not even saying this in a religious manner, although I consider the moment I truly understood the concept my Rapture moment. Oh 2018, such simpler times…..It took a lot of beatings for me to finally get it, but damn it I’m here now……let’s go. And if you’ve read any of my story on here, you’ll know I’m not a run of the mill Christian or any other religion.
As Dr. Peterson says, “living in absolute truth will be the most exciting adventure of your life..”
He ain’t wrong.
